Talk to usWhich Zed plan is right for me?
Our Personal plan is for users who want a best-in-class code editor with limited AI capabilities—or for users who prefer to bring their own keys. Our Pro plan comes with Agentic Editing out of the box and scales with you as you go. Our Enterprise plan is for larger teams with custom needs.
How does the free trial work?
We offer a two week free trial of our Pro plan which comes with 150 prompts. To start your trial, visit your Account page and make sure you're logged in. The trial ends once you've used up your 150 prompts or the two weeks pass–whatever comes first.
What is a prompt?
A prompt in Zed is an input from the user, initiated on pressing enter, composed of one or many requests. A prompt can be initiated from the Agent Panel, or via Inline Assist. A request in Zed is a response to a prompt, plus any tool calls that are initiated as part of that response. There may be one request per prompt, or many. For models using Max Mode, each request within a prompt counts as a prompt against your plan limit.
What happens if I exceed the limits in Pro?
Once you hit 500 prompts in a given month, we'll request you to enable overage billing. This will include providing us with a spending cap so you can manage your LLM spend.
How does usage-based billing work?
Once you've enabled overage billing, we'll charge you a set amount per prompt, based on the models you use. If you have included a spending cap, we'll let you know once you hit that. We'll charge you for every additional $20 you incur or at the end of the month–whatever comes first.
I don't want to pay for Zed, can I use my own keys?
Yes you can! We currently support Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, Github Copilot, Deepseek, Google AI, LM Studio, Mistral, Ollama, OpenAI and more.
Can I use Zed without the AI features?
Yes! Zed is first and foremost a code editor with blazing-fast performance, true multiplayer collaboration, and a focus on developer productivity.
