Zed doesn't store prompts or train on your code unless you explicitly opt in. Most AI coding tools treat this as their highest-tier privacy feature. For Zed, it's the baseline.
Zed for Business gives you that guarantee. Prompt sharing and Edit Prediction training are off by default at the org level, and individual engineers can’t override those settings.
When your team uses Zed-hosted AI, your admin policies govern every bit of data that moves. If you bring your own keys, nothing passes through Zed's servers; it's a direct connection to your provider.

Why would my team choose Business?
Business is $30/seat/month for teams rolling out Zed across an organization. It adds centralized billing, org-wide privacy controls, and the ability to disable Zed-hosted features org-wide. If you want Zed to be easy to adopt, govern, and pay for as a team, Business is the fit.
How does AI spend work with Business?
Business doesn't include bundled AI credits. If your team uses Zed-hosted AI, it's billed at provider cost plus 10% and includes ZDR agreements with our AI providers. If you bring your own keys, spend goes directly to your provider at no extra charge. Many teams evaluating Business already have AI contracts, and Zed works with them without requiring you to switch.
Does Zed offer SSO?
SSO, SAML, SCIM, and SOC 2 are not currently available, but we're working on them now. Email [email protected] and we'll keep you posted as these ship.
Is code stored or used to train models?
Zed doesn't store prompts or use them to train models; that's covered by zero data retention agreements with every AI provider we support. Prompt sharing and Edit Prediction training are both opt-in for every Zed user. On Business plans, both are off by default, and admins control whether members can opt in at all.
Can we bring our own API keys?
Yes. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Copilot, AWS Bedrock, and others are supported. When you bring your own keys, spend goes directly to your provider at no extra charge.
